Last October Brian celebrated two landmark birthdays in style at Dublin’s Vicar Street venue. Firstly the man himself turned 50 and also his No 1 Album “A Better Man” turned 20 so what better way than to combine the two events into one big party and so he performed the entire album in sequence from start to finish in front of a rapturous crowd, marking the double decade anniversary of its original release.
The timing of this live show also coincided with Brian completing a 6 week course of Chemo and radiation for an earlier Cancer diagnosis and it was his way of saying to himself and indeed to his fans that playing LIVE was the best medicine of all.
It is hard to believe that his Breakthrough Album ‘A BETTER MAN’ will be 21 this year and to celebrate its coming of age, Brian will be releasing a limited edition 3 disc set of the Dublin concert comprising 1 DVD & 2 audio CDs. If anything, the songs sound fresher and his voice is stronger and more heartfelt than ever. As he says himself “It’s incredible how lyrics I wrote all those years ago have taken on an even deeper temperature given my recent health scare and so they feel all the more meaningful to perform as I enter my 50’s and continue my journey to full health.”
Brian began a journey with cancer last July and subsequently finished the 6 week round of Chemo / radiation treatment only a few weeks before the Big Birthday bash without missing a single beat. He cites singing and performing as the motivation for staying positive. In Brian's words: “The gigs make everything worthwhile, the fans' support means the world to me, if anything the diagnosis and treatment has given me greater focus and determination to get through it all. It’s only further proof that music is the ultimate healer and my voice and indeed my fans have never let me down and for that I say a huge THANK YOU.”
The first CD contains the live recording of ‘A Better Man’ and the second CD gives a selection of his hits throughout his career. The double CD package also comes with a DVD filmed on the night. Now you can share the wonderful atmosphere of that memorable magical night forever.
The release will be timed for Brian's show at The Edinburgh Festival Fringe in August. Keep watching the website and social media for up-dates.
