It’s finally here! Tears, laughter and a lot of talent later, the first instalment of the Blind Auditions is over and the competition is already fierce. Viewers were shocked to see established artist Tara Blaise fail to be chosen by any of the coaches despite having worked with both Sharon and Brian. Sharon said “I knew that was you” but an unfortunate choice of song held her back. The fact that a well-known artist with two albums under her belt could not get passed the blind auditions shows the high level of talent and standard expected for The Voice of Ireland.
Each Coach has chosen the first of their contestants for the battles; Kian and Brian have two each while Bressie and Sharon each have three acts.
Mom of two Angela Shanny wowed the Coaches with 'Listen' by Beyonce, her mentor Brian Kennedy was shocked when his chair turned to see such a small woman and said he was expecting to see a “big mamma” because of the power in her voice!
18 year old Sinead Fox had Brian and Kian fighting to work with her but this time Brian was the lucky one. Sinead is from a big family and has 7 brothers and 5 sisters. She extremely passionate about singing, enjoys singing musical theatre and pop, but knows she's a soprano because her secondary school teacher told her so! Stage fright really holds her back but she thinks this show will give her confidence
One episode of excitement down, many more to come! Don’t miss next Sunday at 6.30pm on RTE One as the Blind Auditions continue and the competition heats up on the most talked about show of 2012 – The Voice of Ireland.
Show and format information:
The much anticipated worldwide hit show has landed on Irish shores. Based on the international format that originated in Holland, The Voice of Ireland promises to be the most exciting show of 2012. Which is no surprise considering its number one show status in Holland and the US, 30 chart entries from The Voice of Holland (including two number ones), a number one single “Moves like Jagger” from The US Voice, 33 international versions of the show in production or currently on air and the chance to win a contract with recording contract with Universal Music. The first step to this coveted prize is the Blind Auditions.
During these auditions the Coaches are seated with their backs to the singers, and their decisions are based solely on voice. If a coach is impressed by the voice, they push the ‘I Want You’ button and their chair turns to face the singer. If more than one coach pushes the button, the power shifts to the singer and they get to decide which coach they want to work with. Once each coach has their team in place, the battle is on! Each team of singers will be mentored and developed by their coach. In the battles stage, each coach will have two members of their team battle against each other by singing the same song, with the coach deciding which team member will advance to the live shows.
