Brian along with other guest vocalist Aoife Ni Fhearraigh perform compositions by composer/musician Phil Coulter. Brian's backing vocals can be found on track 3 - In Perfect Harmony
Phil Callery - 'From The Edge of Memory'
Phil Callery's voice has great resonance and emotional range, but it also exercises control, it exudes tact, seriousness, and integrity. His style of singing plays with ideas of suggestiveness and simplicity, letting nuanced melancholy of the lines and the tragic inevitability of the stories speak for themselves, using arrangements which are imaginative and unobtrusive and subtly haunting. A review from the Irish Independent, Monday 25th October by Niamh Hooper
Reliving the 60s – with a little help from George
Teenagers of the 60s flocked to a night of nostalgia with the fifth Beatle, Sir George Martin, in Dublin last night. For the first of three nights, the man who signed the Fab Four to EMI in 1962 and produced every recording until they disbanded in 1970, played to a packed National Concert Hall.
The show started with one of the best offerings of the night – She’s Leaving Home sung by Irish songwriter Jimmy MacCarthy. The film scores of the James Bond film Live and Let Die, and Yellow Submarine suited the 70-piece orchestra presentation.
But it was the moments when Sir George took to the piano and played Paul McCartney’s and his favourite tune Here, There and Everywhere and In My Life that were treasured by the audience who had paid up to £55 to see him including the younger fans. Popular favourites from John, Paul, George and Ringo such as Sgt Peppers Lonely Hearts Club Band, Here Comes the Sun, Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da and Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds.
But Brian Kennedy stood out among the featured guests including Liam O’Maonlai of the Hothouse Flowers and Leslie Dowdall, for not being in awe of the music and the company they shared. He sang The Long and Winding Road and Carry That Weight with real feeling. George also got a little bit of help from his friends on backing vocals.

Following on from the fantastic news about Sony, Brian wanted to say a personal thank you for all your support, and to tell you in his own words, the up-to-date news about the forthcoming single & album.
Tuesday, July 20th '99
Dear BK Surfers,
I just want to say thanks for spreading the word via Jane and Lynn's fantastic website. I'm really touched by all the support and suggestions over this last while. I think it's true that the only constant thing is change and the last couple of years have certainly been full of that. The most exciting so far is the news that my new album will be coming out before Christmas on the Sony Ireland label. I'm just starting to think about photos for the single cover due in September and then the album. Those of you who were at the fleadh may have noticed me duetting the said single with Mr Ronan Keating and I was very pleased with the reception, even though the sound on stage was a nightmare.......oh we're such troopers.
I also was fortunate enough to sing a few things with Eddi Reader on the other stage as part of my main set. One of these days we must really do an album and a tour together instead of just warbling harmonies in the back of each others' albums....Send her loads of luck on her website will youse and mention this to her.
At this point I feel like I've made about 4 albums since the last one.......we stopped counting the songs after 40 were notched up. I know Lynn and Jane have been reporting my wanderings recording songs and things in churches and I do hope that this stuff will surface at some point.. especially the stories.. watch this space is all I'll say for now.
I'm sure the website will have an exclusive something from the new record as soon as it's possible, but for now we're just starting to think about the promotional schedule around the album release and I'm itching to do a proper tour again. Keep watching the Web Site for more news. Oh God, I can't wait to actually see this album out and on the shelf! There's talk of me spending a lot more time in America too, but I think immediately I will be touring the record in and around all my favourite places before heading there. I've played in America a lot with Van so it will be great to go and do some solo shows. Again watch the website for news...I'll go for now but thanks again for all your unending enthusiasm and I'll log on again soon.
Keep the thoughts coming............
love Brian Kennedy xx
Brian is very proud to announce a brand new record deal with SONY (Ireland). The final details and signing of contracts is imminent. This fantastic news can only lead to bigger and better things for Brian, all of which are long overdue and truly deserved!!

A LITTLE POST CONCERT UP-DATE
Sunday's War Child concert got off to a roaring start with sets from support artists Crush and Pelvis. However just as Brian was about to take the stage the alarm bells started to ring - quite literally. A fire in the upper part of the building led to a full evacuation procedure, which then led to the rest of the show being cancelled. Ironic really as the best was yet to come.
