Reviews from Brian’s much anticipated new album 'Homebird'. The new double disc CD includes 14 new studio tracks and a bonus disc of remixes and bonus recordings.

From Julia Bellamy, Sydney, Australia....
Roughly 6 months after its release, Homebird is firmly established as my late-night album before drifting off after a busy and often stressful day. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants to end the day on a note of serenity and/or needs a drug-free, healthy solution to insomnia!

I'm not a religious person in the orthodox sense of the word.  I haven't visited churches or listened to sermons for a long time now, but I do have a need for spirituality through the inspiration of music and other art forms.  Brian's voice and lyrics fulfill this need completely.  The purity of his voice throughout this album is a spiritual experience in itself.

For personal reasons my favourite tracks are still "If You Don't Believe....", "West," "Every Song is a Cry..." and "You Raise Me Up," but every one of the songs is beautiful and has a special message.  This album really is a classic in its own right and shows the incomparable quality of Brian's voice.  Thanks again Brian!  Regards - Julia.

I decided to concentrate on the Disc 1 first, to take it in while savouring the idea of still having another treat to come. “Let me in” spoke to me instantly. It was like Brian was doing the talking for me, putting my exact thoughts into words and singing them out loud to the person I would like to let me in. And being just perfectly persuasive and determined. Needless to say which song on Disc 2 I listened to first. That guitar! Don’t ask me which of the versions I like the best – it varies every other day!

“You are” transported me to the west coast - not a faintest idea why - and filled me with happy thoughts. An absolute into-good-mood melody! I have listened to the lyrics over and over again and somehow I always end up with an interpretation that clashes with the emotion brought up by the music. A sheer revelation: I am never alone when my heart treasures a love, no matter how imperfect – it accompanies me wherever I go. And - I don’t think I could be lonelier, if my heart was only to be beat to keep the blood circulating.

Being a devoted Eurovision fan since the grand age of ten, “Every song is a cry for love” will always be special to me. How glad it made me to learn that Brian was to represent Ireland! My favourite sing-along on the album! (You should have seen the looks my Eurovision t-shirt got at Olympia! Céad mile fáilte go Helsinki i 2007!)

Jennifer Handley......
I am enjoying the new album.  I have listened to it non stop since I bought it.  I know each song by heart now, and my family are sick and tired listening to me singing (or at least trying) to sing my favourites.  My favourite has to be 'If you don't believe in me' and close second is 'Destination'.  I wish Brian the very best with the new album and I have to say it was worth the wait, but don't leave us waiting as long next time Brian!  Looking forward to hearing some of the new ones at the Olympia in July, roll on July

Bernie, N. Ireland......
The new CD is fantastic. I love "Destination" and "Coming Home" especially. Brian just gets better and better! I can see "Silver Hearts on Chains" become a classic.

Love the new photos on the album and even better the photo on the single cover!

Elaine Grant, Edinburgh.....
The much anticipated studio album of new material was about to be released. A long time coming, but well worth the wait!

The double cd package is very well produced, with seven gorgeous glossy colour pics of Brian and a whopping 13 songs on CD1 and 14 additional acoustic songs on CD2 (named the acoustic sessions), spoilt for choice or what!  You definitely get your moneys worth with this album.

All of the songs on CD1 appear on CD2 (except for 3), but as usual Brian gives a whole new meaning and feel to the songs, so they don’t really sound the same at all, only better.

Collaborating with many other writers, Calum MacColl, Ronan Keating, Ali Thompson, Brendan Graham, Boo Hewerdine, Eddi Reader, Don Mescal amongst others, brings a fresh feel to Brian’s latest offering.

All of the songs are strong, with ‘Destination’, ‘What You Wish For’, ‘Coming Home’, ‘Turn To Me’ and ‘If You Don’t Believe In Me’ standing out from the rest (except for ‘You Raise Me Up’ which will always stand out in any album!).

This is quite an upbeat album from Brian, the songs have a good feel about them. Personally my favourite is ‘Turn To Me, which I think will be the next ‘You Raise Me Up’. Here Brain shows pure clarity and emotion in his voice, really love the expression he conveys, sounds as if he means every word  Cant wait to hear this live!!

This is another fantastic album from Brian, with all 27 songs instant audience pleasers.  I really love the added bonus of the acoustic sessions cd and Brian singing with the brilliant Eddi Reader on ‘Silver Hearts On Chains’.

Top marks again Brian, you sound better than ever!  10 out of 10, and add some.

Just to add congratulations on your fantastic performance on the Eurovision Brian, you did the whole of Ireland and all of us fans proud.  Best singer in the competition and the world!

Catherine Higgins.....
I ordered the new CD and got it on the day of release here in England and in my opinion there is not a bad track on the whole album and some of the words are so profound, though I have to admit I haven’t learned any of the songs yet, so can’t tell you which are my favourites.

I am going to see Brian at the Demontfort Hall in Leicester I have had the tickets since March and have got brilliant seats, really looking forward to it. Bye for now. Catherine.

Ann Redmond......
Ladies & Gents of the Homebird CD review page, you are making me all quite jealous.  I went to buy the much awaited CD with bathed breath, thinking I would have to come up with some sorry tale to leave work early to go home and listen to that beautiful voice but to my horror, all sold out and I had spent hours thinking of that perfect excuse.  I couldn't bear the wait for the next delivery to arrive so I ordered online.  As the online store is always prompt in delivering the order, I'm literally counting every single second for the lovely clink to come through the letterbox, seems like I ordered it a year ago, hence my jealously at reading your reviews but alas my time will come soon.

The only thing keeping me going is that I will be in the Olympia on Saturday the 15th of July so will have to rest my voice for that and where I work got free tickets to the upcoming recordings in RTE of "1 to remember with Brian Kennedy" and I will be there on Saturday the 24th of June, how I will keep quiet during the recording is a question I have asked myself quite a lot, can see the possibility of being escorted from RTE!!!! - so hopefully one or two of you are a little bit jealous of me now ......

Brenda Neasham, Greenhead, Cumbria.....
Well its been over a week since I bought the new CD Homebird and if you were to ask me what were my favourites I'd have to say THEM ALL....!!!   Brian you've made a fabulous collection of very catchy songs, some you can sing to, some you can dance to and some that make me cry.  I love them all.  I'm sure that the Single ''If you dont believe in me'' is going to be a great hit in the charts.  Love and Best Wishes from Brenda.

Joan, Cork, Ireland.......
What a gem this new album is - pure listening pleasure, captured forever, to be enjoyed again and again. I just can't get enough of it - as soon as the discs finish playing, I just want to play them again. Such wonderful melodies and as always, beautiful lyrics - so much talent in one man - God only knows where Brian gets his inspiration, but keep it coming !

'Killaloe' has long since been a favourite of mine, and for me, 'Silver Hearts On Chains' is the 'Killaloe' of this album - Superb, heartfelt song. This is destined to bring Brian a whole new legion of fans. Congratulations Brian - Long May you Run! Regards,

Mike & Julie Lockton......
Brian’s new CD is a wonderful collection of songs, which gets better every time it’s played. Having purchased it on the day it came out, every day has sprung a new surprise. ‘What You Wish For’ jumped out today, yesterday it was ‘All Over The World’ the day before ‘Coming Home’. These songs are rapidly turning into classics. There is not one song that does have its own strength, and the fact that Brian has provided a second acoustic CD shows just how big-hearted he is.

Brian played ‘Homebird’ with Calum when we went to his superb concert in Swindon last year. It was so new they were ‘reading’ the words from a song-sheet. It sounded superb then and it is even better now. Its also definitely worth mentioning that all the songs on the CD are all very professionally mixed, superbly performed and wonderfully crafted. Brian has created another masterpiece of songs that are inspiring, breathtaking and just pain brilliant. Thank you to Brian and everyone. We aim to get to another show very soon.

Pat Foxcroft.....
I think this is a fabulous CD.  I bought it on the way home from work last night and was overwhelmed.  There is not one track I don't like.

Julie OHara.......
Wow Brian 'Homebird' is just wonderful, especially 'All Over The World' and 'Homebird', which I saw you sing live for the first time with Calum last year. Just brilliant like always. Take care love Julie x

Tracey Prideaux.....
Just finished listening to Brian's new CD, Lovely!  Didn't even mind doing the housework as I had it to listen to! Please pass on my best wishes to Brian for the up and coming tour. See you in Manchester! Regards Tracey.

'Happiness is.............a new Brian Kennedy album, kids in bed, and bottle of wine of the Sauvignon Blanc variety...............'

The promise of a trip to the cinema on Bank Holiday Monday would earn me enough points to get to Virgin Megastore for opening. The shop was deserted as I scanned the shelves for that now familiar pose of Brian in his black jacket. The CD was easily enough found on both the 'New Releases' and 'Virgin Recommends' shelves I am pleased to report. Purchase made, the temptation to cancel the cinema in favour of heading home to listen to it was all too strong.......but a promise is a promise after all, so we were off the see X-Men 3. Even Hugh Jackman wasn't enough to keep my attention throughout the film. Every now and then I'd put my hand in my bag just to make sure it (the CD) was still there.

At last we got home and I encouraged the kids to play outside - it wasn't raining that much after all.........!!! This CD needed my undivided attention!! I listened to them all one by one as I oohed and aahed over the pics in the CD booklet......(We like you in the blue shirt Brian). Every song was a gentle reminder just how talented Mr Kennedy is - 'real' lyrics, great melodies and a truly amazing voice. I listened to it all evening till it was time for bed...........Very difficult to pick any favourites - I love them all, but Silver Hearts on Chains stands out at the moment. Thanks Brian for a wonderful album. xx

Niamh, County Derry........
I love, love, love Homebird. I got my copy last Friday and have been listening to it ever since.  It is great getting to know all the new material and savouring the new words and melodies.  Who needs a month in the sun when you can enjoy the journey through BK land? So many of the songs have an immediate appeal but there is one that I am just blown away by and that is 'Silver Hearts on Chains'.      I heard Brian sing it on the Tubridy Show on the radio last week and and it was love at first hearing. It is such a beautiful song, sad and simple, an epic tale of love and loss in three short verses. It is right up there with the very best of Brian's songs like 'Killaloe' and 'Christopher Street'.
Eddi Reader's beautiful voice coming in in the last verse is haunting and sad and adds so much to the atmosphere of the song. As for Brian! What can I say?  Beautifully sung and straight from  the heart as always. Thanks BK.  The whole CD is a winner.

Laura Thomas......
BK is really spoiling his fans with this fantastic new release. Not only do we a new album, we also get a 14 track bonus acoustic CD. It's like Christmas and my birthday at the same time.  No - actually what it's like is when you get given a scrummy box of chocolates - you want to eat them all up, but you also want to savour each one. I was like that when I got the CD- I just wanted to hear all the songs right away! The good thing about "Homebird" is that you can play it over and over again, (unlike a box for chocolates). It's such a treat!

From experience, I know that my favourites will change and that I'll prefer different songs over others depending on my mood. but on first listen the song "Destination" really stood out for me - as did "Turn to me". It's great to have the different versions on the two CD's. Showing just how versatile BK is. As for "Silver Hearts on Chain" the song do-written with Eddi Reader  - well that is just beautiful. Well done Brian - and thank you!

Tina Sotler, Slovenia......

Being from the other part of Europe I will probably have to wait quite long to get to this
CD (except if someone puts it on internet haha), that's why I decided to put a little more effort in listening those little inserts of the new CD. I liked it. I really did. Nice ballads, good lyrics, great voice of course. But the song that stayed on my mind even after listening was 'Go With My Heart'. I've been whistling the chorus for an hour now. I love this song. So cheerful, it just makes my day happier. A nice melody and such an easy going song. It's just pefect for this album.

So many ballads and big words and then in the middle little cheeky song. It makes an album better. No matter how good those ballads are you always need that one song that makes you smile in a second! And
'Go With My Heart' works for me every single time! I like 'Homebird' and 'Let Me In' too. But everybody has his own taste, right?

Joanne Jones......

Hi Brian! The new CD 'Homebird' is just beautiful... I've been listening to it over and over!! I really love 'Turn to me'...one of those songs that gives you goose bumps when you listen to it! All the tracks are amazing, you have been working really hard...THANK YOU for sharing your gorgeous talents with us all!...Now all we need is a DVD to follow!!!! (just you and your voice in a nice venue ...somewhere with an intimate feel to it!) just a suggestion!!!!!

Cant wait to see you sat and maybe ,hopefully, you will treat us to a live rendition of 'TURN TO ME'? Just a little request!!!! listen to me with my suggestions and requests! (Ha,ha,ha!!!).

I've been listening to your music now for over 14 years and I always say that Brian Kennedy songs are the soundtrack to some of the most important times of my life, now I'm going to enjoy getting to know the new tracks as well as I do your other songs!

Anyway I just wanted to wish you lots of luck with 'Homebird', not that you need it, as I know that its going to be a huge success for you! Take care  Brian! Love always Joanne xxxx

Gerard McCarthy.......
Hi Brian, Congrats on the new album. Really well done. Especially love ‘For Once In Your Life’. You’re back in form and it’s wonderful to see/hear you writing such good stuff again. Hugs, Gerard

Karen (Dublin).......
Your performance at the Eurovision was fantastic and you did us proud. You were by far the most professional and talented singer there. Unfortunately the present voting system is not in our favour and is a joke but hopefully that will change soon and then you WILL win the ESC for Ireland for the 8th time.

Your new CD 'Homebird' is out of this world. The songs and lyrics are so catchy and easy to listen to and it is by far the best CD I have bought in a long time. Keep up the good work. Hope to see you again in Dublin soon. (You have been spotted in Avoca, Kilmacanogue, and in Dublin city walking along Dawson street. I was able to point you out to my cousin from the USA , and advice her to look out for your music on return to New Mexico). All the best and may you stay happy.  Regards.  Karen

Marie Coffey.....
Good luck with the album Brian. I've just had time to have a quick listen and already I'm loving "Silver Hearts On Chains"

Gerard......
Hi Brian, Got the new album this morning. It is fantastic. You've done it again!!!!! Watched you on Kelly, so a great day all round. Love Mary X

Julia Bellamy, Sydney, Australia.........

Have just heard the soundbytes of 'Homebird' - and the verdict:  Brian's voice at it's best!  He's got it right as usual, the perfect follow up to the Eurovision appearance.  This album shows the beauty of his voice and just how versatile he is. The songs are immediately singable and very real to most of us.  It surely will appeal to everyone, everywhere, whatever their age, gender or race and if the soundbytes are a taste of what is in store then I just can't wait to get hold of the album over here in OZ.  Brilliant Brian, you've done it again!  Julia
