The Eurovision Song Contest 2006

Brian will perform Ireland’s entry for the 2006 Eurovision Song Contest.  He has been chosen to represent Ireland in Athens, Greece in May 2006. The song contest will take place in the Olympic Stadium’s Indoor Basketball Hall in Marousi, Athens.

Brian will compete in the Eurovision Song Contest Semi-Final which takes place on Thursday 18 May, in which twenty-four countries will compete for ten places in the final.  These ten will join the fourteen countries who have already qualified for the final, which will be held on Saturday 20 May.  For all the Eurovision updates visit www.eurovision.tv

The following channels will broadcast the contest:
Thursday 18th May: Semi Final
RTE 2 & BBC Three: 8.00 - 10pm

Saturday 20th May:  The 51st Eurovision Song Contest Final
RTE One:  8.00 - 11.10pm / BBC One:  8.00 - 11.05pm / BBC Radio 2: 8.00 - 11.00pm
Good news also for fans in Australia the SBS TV Channel will broadcast both the semi-final and final - visit sbs.com.au/eurovision

Eurovision Press Conference & Dress Rehearsal
Eurovision fever is certainly building as Brian jetted out to Athens on Wednesday 10th May, accompanied by his backing singers: Paula, Una & Fran, as well as a RTE entourage and Curb Records.  The press were also in force for the press conference held at Dublin Airport, so tune into the local news for the coverage. “The first rehearsal went very well,” said Brian. “The sound people were brilliant and the technical crew were second to none. It is always a bit worrying when you’re performing in a new place with a new crew, but they were fantastic.”

“When I was first asked to do Eurovision, I really hadn’t seen it coming,” he said. “But I like to take risks in my career. A lot of people pretend not to like Eurovision; it’s a guilty secret.
